Sun Tou Tou is an orphan in her twenties. One day, she gets into trouble while fighting injustice. Ren Xin Zheng, a professor at the University of Chinese Medicine, comes to her aid and learnher life story. Professor Ren accepts her into the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) course to give her a fresh start in life. Sun Tou Tou accepts the challenge to learn under Ren Xin Zheng and eventually inherits his family's TCM practice. Professor Ren's son, Tian Zhen, is a classmate she dislikes for causing her some difficulties. The quest of gaining knowledge is challenging enough without the added generation gap between students and lecturers. Maturing, she persists and finds herself taken with traditional medicine. Tou Tou and Tian Zhen become closer as they learn to understand and empathize with the other. Tou Tou, her classmates, and their lecturers can now begin to follow their dreams.

该剧讲述中医药大学教授任新正（吴刚饰）致力于广传中医，他辞职创办中医传承班，希望培养出真正能将中医之道传承下去的接班人。 混不吝孙头头（赵露思饰）也意外加入师承班，与任新正的儿子任天真（罗一舟饰）水火不容，从律师转行的杨小红（张萌饰）、儿科医生彭十堰（周澄奥饰）、背负全村的期望想成为名医的赵力权（朱俊麟饰）等一众学生也是格格不入。

这群带着各自疑问而来的学生，跟着发大愿的任新正、宋灵兰（江珊饰）等师长，在一地鸡毛中向着传承道统的方向砥砺前行，以后浪之姿学习传承中医传统文化。
